Do you want to change the world?
It seems like this phrase keeps showing up, and has been showing up my whole life. Steve Jobs talked about it after all.
When I was a kid, the dream was to grow up and change the world. Those are the people who matter, was the idea. That’s what it means to live a meaningful life.
But have you ever stopped to wonder what that actually looks like?
Like what would you actually change?
A lot of people want to change the world but don’t have any idea what they want to do in life. I certainly was that way just a few years ago.
Why? It’s because changing the world is so non-specific. It’s not positive or negative. It doesn’t say anything about how people would live differently. And what’s not clear doesn’t motivate. Only a clear what and why moves people to action.
You see, the phrase could mean anything, and therefore doesn’t mean much at all.
I don’t know about you, but changing the world doesn’t get me excited to get out of bed super early and take action until super late.
Saying I want to change the world isn’t enough for me.
Just a few days ago, I asked myself what I really want, if I don’t want to change the world.
Instead, I realize now I want to help people.
What would your life be like if you stopped living for significance? If you stopped living for other people’s approval or to be noticed (like I’ve spent most of my life doing).
INSTEAD, what if you came from a place of love? As in you wanted people to be better off because they met you. Because they encountered your presence, your content, your book, your video, your whatever.
One thing I can get behind is helping people in a big way.
Wanna know what I’m passionate about?
I’m passionate about helping each person become the best version of themselves and get exactly what they want in life.
I was the guy my whole life who was the underachiever, the selfish brat and insecure outcast.
IMPORTANT POINT: I believe for people to get exactly what they want in every area of their lives, they have to become the best possible version of themselves.
They have to become a better person, a more loving, helpful, valuable (in the sense of how they help others, not intrinsic value), to others.
I’m constantly stretching myself with massive goals (income, impact, lifestyle, etc.) because I know to achieve those goals, I have to become someone who serves others in a bigger and bigger way.
I have to learn how to more people get more of what they want. If I have goals which are just barely past where I am now, I don’t have to get much better of a person or help more people.
One of my favorite quotes by one of my favorite people goes like this:
“If you want to become a billionaire, help a billion people.” – Peter Diamandis.
If you want to become someone who leaves a lasting impact on the world, then be the person who helps more people than anyone else.
Be the person who has a vision of SERVICE. A vision of LOVE. A vision to HELP SOMEONE WHO’S NOT YOU. Maybe even a lot of people.
Or maybe not, you may not want what I want, and that’s ok. But for me, I’m not interested in changing the world anymore. I don’t want things to simply be different than they are now. I try to be a bit more specific than that.
No, I don’t want to change the world. I want to help people.
Let me share some examples with you…
I want to be a part of the movement to bring clean water to every human being on the planet. It’s likely the most elemental need for humans to survive and fluorish, and over 700 million people still don’t have it.
I want to help provide access to entrepreneurship and REAL education to everyone worldwide (like health, business, financial, love and relationship education).
I want to help solve the energy crisis, so the human race is no longer dependent on fossil fuels to power our everyday life. Solar, wind, and all other renewable energy is the future.
And I REALLY want to support visionary entrepreneurs, people who have a vision of SERVING THE WORLD’S PEOPLE, to become the most powerful, focused, loving, version of themselves, because THAT WILL MAKE THE BIGGEST POSITIVE DIFFERENCE.
This lights me on fire, has me working 12-14 hour days everyday. Constantly consumed to become more valuable and give more value to visionary entrepreneurs and other coaches.
This is what I will live for, will die for, will give my whole being, soul, heart, and body for.
Whoever wants to change the world, good for you. It’s not really my thing anymore I realized.
I will help people instead.
Will you join me?
P.S. If this post inspired you in some way, please share. Let’s become a people who want to help people over everything.
